Welcome to ASK-C!!!

ASK-C is short for the Anime Society of Kansas City. We are a club of anime fans in the Kansas City area, encompassing the entire Kansas and Missouri metro areas, as well as other area towns and cities.

We're an active club with an active membership, organizing one or two club activities each month. Some of our past activities have included miniature golf at Cool Crest, bowling, going out for sushi and an anime- themed Halloween costume party.

History of ASK-C

The club had its beginnings at Meetup.Com, which helped a few of the founding members find each other in early 2003. As more and more people came to the Meetups, the regular attendees decided it would be more fun to start a real club. In the summer of 2003 we formed a steering committee and started creating the goals and bylaws of the club we were now calling the Anime Society of Kansas City. A club mission statement and constitution were adopted in January of 2004. In February of 2004, we started reaching out to the community by giving our very own community education class on anime at UMKC! "Anime 101" was featured in the Winter and Summer Communiversity sessions in 2004.

As the years have gone by, we've done everything from going out for sushi and ice cream to going bowling as a group, but we can most often be found in the upstairs meeting room of Minsky's in the River Market, sharing pizza, calzones, soda and anime!
